JesterZ Summer Camp welcomes Jason Gray (Studio C) to join our 5-day Sketch Writing & Character Camp!!

Monday June 26th – Friday June 30th

If your teenager has ever watched Studio C and thought “I’d LOVE to do that!” or “I have an idea for a funny sketch” then this is the summer camp for them! Here’s their chance to learn from 

JASON GRAY!

SCHEDULE:
MONDAY
Instructors:  Jason Gray & Jef Rawls

JASON GRAY – Jason will join the class via Zoom to give vital instruction that will set students on track for writing amazing scenes.  From coming up with ideas to the structure of writing funny storylines!  Get ready to be inspired by one of this generations funniest writers and actors!

JEF RAWLS – Jef, a commercial actor and owner/producer of JesterZ Improv with over 5,500 LIVE comedy shows to his name, will guide students through writing their first drafts and assist in getting the creative juices flowing with improv techniques.

TUESDAY
Instructor: Jef Rawls + JR Timothy (former writer for Chambers Media & Mr. Beast)

Using Beat Improv as a Map – when you need help writing dialogue, why not use improvisation to work out what to say!?!  We’ll explore ideas of the draft and use improv techniques to work out areas students get stuck: DIALOGUE!

Character Development – Our special guest will guide students through a series of fun activities, body movement exercises and voice work to create fun (& funny) characters for the sketches.

WEDNESDAY
Instructor: Jef Rawls & JR Timothy

Rewriting Your Script – We’ll focus on the value and importance of the rewrite and incorporating feedback from others.

Audition & Casting Process – with his experience as an assistant casting director and over 30 years acting and thousands of auditions, Jef will share insights he’s learned on both sides of the camera and what actors should bring to the audition.  You can’t do it all, so we need a CAST of characters to play the part!  Each student will participate in their own AND other student sketches.

THURSDAY
Instructor: Jason Gray

Table Read Through of Sketches – Students will read their scripts as Jason gives feedback and guidance.

Rewriting, Final Scripts & Rehearsal – Jason will choose scripts and cast students in chosen sketches with the help of the writer(s). Then rehearsal begins.  Jason will take time with each group and guide them to make their sketch better and better with each run through.

FRIDAY
Instructor: Jason Gray

Rehearsal & Feedback – Students will continue to memorize their scripts and receive feedback from Jason.

Final Run Through – Jason will DIRECT put the finishing touches on the sketch before PERFORMANCE TIME!!

FRIDAY 6:00pm – SKETCH SHOWCASE
