The Jester’Z were featured in an article about the value of
“Clean Comedy” for corporate events:
...The first event for around 500 attendees was a comedy night featuring the Jester’Z Improv Comedy Troupe. The troupe works out of Theater 168 in Scottsdale, AZ. “We rearranged our general session ballroom to feel more like a theater, and they performed their act with audience interaction,” says (Sarah) Casbeer. “The highlight was probably their skit, A&E Biography, where they acted out the life of our CEO based on information we provided prior to the show.” The following year, the company’s award banquet featured two of the members of the troupe as emcees for a dinner of about 850 people. “The theme of that conference was Rock Your Business, so they came up with spoofs on various rock n’ roll groups,” Casbeer says. “We gave out over 200 awards at this program, so they helped keep the show interesting and fun for the attendees.” Casbeer says that adding comedy to a conference is a great way to refresh attendees. The company decided to go the clean comedy route because the attendees of the conference were home-based owners that were primarily female, conservative, and family oriented. “Choosing clean entertainment was important.” she says. When planning the awards banquet, Casbeer was at first wary of bringing in comedians as emcees because there was concern that it might detract from the recognition portions of the event. “However, we knew that we needed something to make the evening more enjoyable for all the attendees,” she says. “It turned out to be a great addition to the event. The emcees respected our requests that they not joke about the award recipients and awards themselves.” Casbeer says she spent a lot of time with the comics prior to the event to make sure there were clear boundaries as to what they could joke about...
